The National Account Manager is responsible for developing account strategies that drive growth, achieve annual sales objectives, and strengthen the image and distribution of products within foodservice. In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership, top-tier negotiation skills, problem solving, and expertise in client management. You will work cross-functionally with internal teams to deliver client experiences that go beyond their expectations.

National Account Manager Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop account base foodservice chains (i.e., restaurant chains, pizza chains, noncommercial accounts and prepared foods in convenience stores) from Technomic top 1,500.
  • Act as business owner accountable for developing strategy and selling new business and achieve volume targets with current and new foodservice chains.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to new customers and business reviews with current customers.
  • Negotiate long-term contracts and pricing with current and new foodservice chains, and prepare and submit new pricing requests to internal pricing team.
  • Analyze customer, channel and category trends to identify and sell new accounts and develop new opportunities within current accounts.
  • Develop volume forecasts and collaborate closely with Demand Planning and production teams to deliver high service levels. Forecast category sales and margin for annual budget plan.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal department personnel, monitor foodservice sales activities, and relate the information to the appropriate internal team.
  • Use customer insights and data from internal teams to manage customer portfolio, identify gaps and recommend new items to drive sales.
  • Communicate all relevant enhancements to promotions, programs, policies and procedures in a timely manner to the respective accounts.
  • Solve margin and sales issues within certain existing accounts as instructed by Foodservice Director.
National Account Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field, or 5 years relevant experience.
  • 2 years sales experience with foodservice broad line distributors.
  • 5 years in the foodservice industry with an emphasis on National Accounts or more.
  • Strong presentation skills to include market, trend and commodity conditions.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to cooperate, coordinate, direct and inspire the productivity of others, and lead cross-functional teams and key customers.
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on functional expertise and experience.
  • Ability to administer a proactive management approach.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond routine issues.
  • Geographical mobility.
  • Up to 50% of travel.
