SHE Specialist is responsible to provide support to the SHE and Risk Management department and the business with emphasis on the quality assurance of complex, companywide SHE incident reporting requirements. In addition, the position will assist in claims recovery and recordkeeping and support other Risk Management initiatives as needed. 

SHE Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Gather, input, and edit existing information to develop hazardous waste management software and document inspections
  • Collect and transport regulated and non-regulated hazardous waste from the laboratories to the interim waste storage facility for disposal
  • Characterize campus waste and help develop profiles
  • Assist with the final preparation and approval of all projects before shipment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company policies
  • Prints labels, labels drums and stages drums for driver pick-up
  • Ensures drum count is correct and that drum conditions are shippable in accordance our company's policies and procedure
  • Wear appropriate PPE to bulk chemicals and clean up spills as necessary

SHE Specialist Requirements:
  • 1+ years of hazardous waste handling experience is a plus
  • 1+ years of chemical or laboratory experience is a plus
  • Comfortable to perform basic computer skills such as data entry
  • Be on your feet walking for most of the day
  • Perform routine lifts of 20-30 lbs. with occasional lifts to 50 lbs
  • Push/pull carts with materials
  • Be comfortable working with chemical
