Application Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and applications support on the assigned product portfolio(s) to both internal and external customers.

Application Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service, sales, & technical support to sales force & customers on chemical products, process issues, equipment start-ups, and technical inquiries.
  • Understand & implement policy to achieve both customer & company goals
  • Work closely with sales, service & vendors to facilitate the sales effort & meet customer requirements
  • Evaluate customer bid requirements, specifications, & other pertinent data
  • Prepare proposals using vendor software, sales catalogs & cost estimates according to technical and performance requirements
  • Aid in the design & development of equipment & systems, & redesign of existing systems
  • Notify inside & outside staff of new products & processes as needed
  • Facilitate prompt remedy of customer technical problems, complaints & failures
  • Maintain organization of order files, monitor in-house orders & assist sales & service with project related questions
  • Prepare sales and activity reports, presentations, and research as directed by management
  • Generate customer invoices and purchase orders to suppliers for services and equipment
  • Manage assigned sales accounts and provide internal sales support.
  • Work with customers to develop sales/demand forecast.
  • Provide technical service in silicone electronic markets.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance for start-ups of new installations, testing new products and troubleshooting.
  • Investigate and document any customer complaints.
  • Complies with safety rules and regulations, attends safety meetings and training, inspects work area for hazards/deficiencies and initiates action to correct them. Also, reports injury/illness and/or environmental incidents.
  • Provide effective and timely communication and recordkeeping at every stage of a project. This will include (but will not be limited to) progress reports, updates, call reports, electronic laboratory notebook, and project milestones reached or missed.
  • Provide on-site customer support as deemed necessary by the Business Development Manager and Operations and Sales Manager.
  • Other duties as required.

Application Engineer Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline.  MS or PhD is highly preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of applicable experience required
    • Previous experience with chemical products and within the chemical manufacturing industry highly preferred
  • Excellent computer skills including hands on PC hardware, PC software, and Microsoft Office Suite a plus
  • Extrovert individual who enjoys traveling and interacting with customers
  • Product demonstration and presentation experience
  • Energetic team player with the ability to contribute and interact with colleagues
  • Structured and analytical approach to tasks and problem solving
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel overnight with travel expectations between 20-40%
  • Clean driving record
