The Controls Engineer  is responsible for the implementation, support, and continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, quality, and IT, to ensure the system meets business requirements and supports efficient manufacturing operations. The Controls Engineer will analyze, design, and configure applications, provide technical support, and drive process optimization to enhance production efficiency, product quality, and data integrity.

Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of systems across the manufacturing sites
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including process maps, system configurations, and user manuals
  • Monitor system performance and implement enhancements to improve efficiency, data accuracy, and reporting capabilities
  • Contribute to and support existing systems and IT Systems Projects
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and solve issues to support Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance
  • Create and program HMI applications
  • Serve as part of an on-call rotation for 24/7 support


Controls Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR high school diploma with 7-10+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong knowledge of MES systems (e.g., Siemens SIMATIC IT, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Wonderware, or similar).

  • Experience with ERP systems integration, preferably SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.

  • Proficiency in SQL, database management, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBScript).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with software development (eg C#, MS SQL)

  • Experience with javascript preferred

  • Ability to travel 25%
