The Microbiologist II position will involve working in a state-of-the-art manufacturing laboratory, performing a variety of microbiological tasks, and offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. The job requires a high level of flexibility due to the alternating 2-week schedule.

Microbiologist II Responsibilities:
  • Assist with general lab duties including preparation of sterile growth medium, stock solutions, reagents, and general lab cleaning and dishwashing.
  • Perform aseptic sampling of the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct direct microscopy and plating while adhering to clean room protocols.
  • Prepare, inoculate, and manage shake flasks using aseptic techniques.
  • Prepare samples for analysis and analyze samples using various analytical instruments such as a microscope and spectrophotometer.
  • Enter process and analytical data into Microsoft Excel.
  • Provide experiment coverage in the evenings and, occasionally, weekends.
  • Participate in safety initiatives within the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Microbiologist II Requirements:
  • 4-year college degree in a science field such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, or a related field.
  • Laboratory experience via academic or prior position(s).
  • Capable of independent work, with the ability to seek clarification as needed before starting tasks.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of standard safe laboratory practices and a commitment to working safely.
  • Competency in aseptic culture techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the set-up and operation of lab-scale bioreactors.
