Laboratory Technician will be part of the Maize Transformation team within the Crop Transformation Systems in Biotechnology/Trait Discovery and Optimization. Follow all standard operating procedures to generate quality transgenic and genome editing events to support trait discovery, trait optimization, and product development programs.


Laboratory Technician Responsibilities:

  • Conduct crop transformation work, including preparing explants, performing transformations, sub-culturing tissue during selection, and regenerating tissue to produce high-quality transgenic or genome-edited plants.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and legal notebook records for all research activities, summarize results, identify areas for improvement, execute lab work following safety and ergonomic standards, and organize daily workflow to meet specified timelines.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and team communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, a positive can-do attitude, and a commitment to teamwork.
  • Assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations.
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks in support of scientific research.
Laboratory Technician Requirements:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biological Studies, Genetics, or related field such as Plant Science or Biotechnology.
  • Previous experience or education in DNA extraction, quantification, and normalization is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Capability to follow guidance from supervision and work collaboratively in a team environment.
