The Field Service Technician will be responsible for supporting our automated seed treatment equipment, including equipment checkouts, startups, troubleshooting, and training operators both remotely and on-site. The role requires extensive travel and strong technical abilities to handle mechanical, electrical, and automation challenges.

Field Service Technician Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with inquiries regarding equipment types, prices, specifications, and operation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and automation issues remotely and on-site.
  • Travel to customer sites to install, check out, calibrate, and provide training on equipment.
  • Monitor truck inventory and ensure necessary equipment is stocked.
  • Complete detailed documentation of on-site actions and troubleshooting steps.
  • Accurately calculate treatment mixtures and calibrate seed-treater equipment.
  • Provide updated training for existing equipment systems.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, and Customers on equipment system projects.
  • Provide technical input for system designs and quotations in collaboration with commercial operations and marketing.
  • Assist general contractors with the installation and start-up of industrial treating systems.

Field Service Technician Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field or High School Diploma/equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of VFD (Variable Frequency Drives) functions, operations, troubleshooting, and programming.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and automation issues.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and machine drawings.
  • Knowledgeable in mechanical and electrical process systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting wiring and conducting Input/Output checks.
  • Preferred: Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Competency in mathematical concepts.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Ability to comply with Customer QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental) requirements on-site.
  • Willingness to travel 85% of the time.
  • Capable of passing a driving record background check.
