The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler helps maintain safety, reliability, and cost-effective production by developing accurate planning and scheduling of maintenance jobs throughout the plant. In addition to scheduling preventative and repair work orders, job plans are created and should include all kitted parts associated to an attached work order. The planner/scheduler will use all Subject Matter Experts - operators, crafts, engineers, leaders, vendors, etc. - to help build a good job plan. The planner/scheduler will work with operations and maintenance on job timing, hours, and days, to minimize downtime for repairs.
Maintenance Planner Responsibilities
- Develop, forecast, schedule, and work the weekly maintenance schedule.
- Review work order backlog in SAP throughout the day for any new work orders.
- Update and maintain equipment and preventative maintenance plans in SAP
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager and Production Unit Managers to build weekly schedules to forecast work order completion dates.
- Facilitate Maintenance Planning meeting with Maintenance and Unit Managers.
- Research and order parts required for work orders. Kit the parts to appropriate work order to make ready for scheduling.
- Support Maintenance Manager in the development, implementation, and day-to-day supervision of maintenance systems, processes, and documentation associated with efficient and high performing maintenance organizations.
- Track open work orders to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and accurate and complete information is entered into the system
- Create job plans which include a copy of the work order, references to procedures when required, materials kitted with work order, and location, special instructions to include expected amount of time for job completion that job will take.
- Create and maintain maintenance procedures as needed
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in developing and maintaining up to date critical spare list and parts inventory
- Assist Maintenance Manager in extracting work order data for Key Performance Indicators reported to Plant Manager.
- Conformance with the Quality and Environmental, Health, Safety and Security policies and awareness of ISO 9001 and RC14001 management system requirements applicable to this position.
- Support company safety initiatives and comply with health and safety policies and legal regulations.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Maintenance Planner Qualifications
- A minimum of High School Diploma/GED; BS/BA preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience planning and scheduling maintenance projects, or 10+ years’ experience as maintenance mechanic or storeroom associate.
- Must possess a thorough working knowledge of SAP and demonstrate the ability to enter and retrieve work order data, to include creating notifications and closing completed work orders.
- Good customer skills, good communication skills both verbally and written, strong technical aptitude, multi-task oriented.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
