The Nutrition Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the delivery and collection of menus from patients and patient care units. You will also play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive appropriate meals based on their dietary requirements. 

Nutrition Assistant Responsibilities: 
  • Delivering and picking up menus from patients and patient care units. 
  • Explaining the meal selection procedure to new patients and assisting them with menu selections. 
  • Meeting face-to-face with assigned patients to verify their meal selections according to a predetermined schedule or as needed. 
  • Offering various food options based on the patient's diet order and availability from the kitchen. 
  • Entering accurate information into the menu system and reviewing entries for adherence to dietary orders. 
  • Following up with patients if menu selections appear incomplete or insufficient. 
  • Updating patient lists to verify meal selections or changes in diet orders. 
  • Checking trays for accuracy of meal orders before they are delivered to patient rooms and care units. 
  • Running tray tickets for meal service and comparing them with the diet list to ensure that all patients receive their designated tray. 
  • Adjusting tray tickets as needed and verifying changes with the Registered Dietitian if necessary. 
  • Monitoring computer messages and promptly addressing all requests. 
  • Providing exceptional service to patients and customers by meeting their needs, expectations, and demands quickly and effectively. 
  • Remaining calm and professional in all interactions and taking prompt action to resolve any complaints. 
  • Answering phone calls in a friendly manner and following up on all messages. 
  • Performing a variety of clerical duties, such as running lists and worksheets and distributing them to staff. 
  • Assisting in the inventory and storage of menus and other items. 
  • Assisting in departmental quality improvement projects. 
  • Preparing items for unit orders and stocking supplies as needed for unit(s). 
  • Filling orders from inventory with proper documentation for charging. 
  • Completing mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements. 
  • Following policies and procedures, with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to patients and customers.
