Analytical Chemist Responsibilities:
- Method Development: Design and optimize robust LC-MS/MS methods for the quantification and characterization of small molecules, specialized metabolites, peptides, and proteins.
- Instrumentation: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, specifically Thermo Orbitrap (Exploris/Lumos) and Triple Quadrupole (TSQ) systems.
- Data Processing: Utilize advanced software (e.g., TraceFinder, Compound Discoverer, Proteome Discoverer, or Skyline) to process complex datasets and deliver actionable insights to project teams.
- Independent Execution: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from initial experimental design and sample preparation to final data reporting, with minimal supervision.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with metabolic engineers, synthetic biologists, and automation engineers to integrate analytical assays into the high-throughput pipelines.
Analytical Chemist Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field; or a Bachelors degree with 3+ years of relevant industrial experience.
- Hands-on experience with high-resolution accurate mass (HRAM) and MRM/SRM workflows.
- Expertise in various chromatography techniques (RPLC, HILIC, Ion Exchange).
- Familiarity with sample preparation techniques for biological matrices (SPE, SLE, protein precipitation).
- Strong ability to troubleshoot hardware issues and interpret "messy" biological data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex analytical findings to non-experts.
