A global leader in tire and rubber manufacturing is seeking a Chemical Compliance Specialist to support the creation and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for their extensive portfolio of rubber formulations. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with international chemical safety regulations and requires strong technical writing skills, regulatory knowledge, and experience with SDS authoring platforms.
Chemical Compliance Specialist Responsibilities:
- Author and maintain SDSs in alignment with global regulations (GHS, OSHA, REACH, CLP, WHMIS, etc.)
- Research and document chemical properties, hazards, and appropriate safety precautions
- Use SDS platforms such as Lisam, SAP, WERCS, 3E, CHEMDOX, or Sphera to prepare documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, EHS, and Regulatory Affairs
- Interpret chemical data and apply hazard classifications accurately
- Support audits and ensure documentation readiness for regulatory inspections
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional and international chemical regulations
- Assist in process improvements related to chemical safety documentation and compliance
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience authoring Safety Data Sheets
- SDSRP certification or similar credentials preferred
- Strong understanding of chemical classification systems and global regulatory frameworks
- Prior experience working in manufacturing or rubber/polymer industries is a plus
- Excellent written communication skills with attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a compliance-driven environment
- Proficiency with SDS authoring tools and databases
