Overview
Our Kansas City Site 4 AI operates four active ingredient manufacturing lines that support the Crop Science business. Due to high activity levels and turnover over the past two years, the site has accumulated a backlog of action items, documentation updates, and improvement project work.
We are seeking a Chemical Engineer to support process operations teams in clearing this backlog while driving mid- to long-term improvement initiatives focused on process reliability, operations, and training. This role is primarily project- and improvement-focused, with responsibilities largely outside of daily operations.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with site technical and operations teams to resolve outstanding PHA, MOC, optimization, and other action items across four chemical processes.
Complete technical definition, validation, and reporting of environmental data required for permitting and annual regulatory reporting.
Review and update plant documentation, including startup, shutdown, and operations procedures as well as P&IDs, to improve clarity and usability.
Develop, document, and execute pressure safety design packages.
Partner with plant engineering teams to scope, document, and define implementation plans for process and reliability improvement projects.
Support enhancements to plant training programs, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related engineering discipline
5+ years of experience in process measurement, chemical processes, or applications within manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environments
Strong knowledge of chemical processes, with the ability to analyze problems, make recommendations, and provide technical resolutions
Understanding of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements and associated risk management techniques
Ability to lead small groups as well as work independently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in technical and non-technical contexts
Proficiency with intermediate computer skills (MS Office, data systems, etc.)
