The Chemist will join the Discovery Chemistry team focused on the design and synthesis of novel organic compounds for crop protection, pest, and vegetation management. The Chemist will join the Discovery Chemistry team focused on the design and synthesis of novel organic compounds for crop protection, pest, and vegetation management. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in synthetic organic chemistry and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
Chemist Responsibilities:
- Conduct multi-step organic synthesis (mg to g scale) with minimal supervision
- Collaborate with biologists, biochemists, and computational chemists to explore structure-activity relationships (SAR) and optimize lead compounds
- Develop and execute synthetic routes using modern methodologies and troubleshoot synthetic challenges
- Purify and characterize compounds using chromatography, crystallization, NMR, and LCMS
- Accurately document experimental procedures and maintain clear lab records
- Maintain a safe, compliant, and organized laboratory environment
Chemist Qualifications:
- BS in Chemistry with 2+ years or MS in Chemistry with 0+ years of relevant lab experience in organic synthesis
- Proficiency in synthetic techniques, purification methods, and compound characterization
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Solid understanding of laboratory safety and chemical hygiene practices
- Previous exposure to agricultural chemistry or discovery-phase research preferred
