Position Summary
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for a range of machining operations including multi-axis mills and lathes. Working closely with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel, this role directly impacts part quality, cycle time, and shop efficiency. Experience with ESPRIT CAM software is a plus. This is a hands-on programming role for someone who knows their way around the shop floor as well as the screen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and optimize CNC programs using ESPRIT CAM software.
  • Program 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills and lathes.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models to develop accurate machining strategies.
  • Develop setup sheets, tooling lists, and process documentation.
  • Troubleshoot programming and machining issues on the shop floor.
  • Optimize cycle times while maintaining part quality and tool life.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Required
  • 3+ years of CNC programming experience.
  • Experience programming CNC mills, lathes, or mill-turn machines.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.
  • Solid knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining processes.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Nakamura, Okuma, or similar CNC controls.
Preferred
  • 5-axis programming experience.
  • Strong proficiency with ESPRIT CAM software.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or precision machining.
  • Experience with CAD software and solid models (SolidWorks, STEP, IGES, etc.).
  • Experience with automation or multi-tasking machines.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
