Construction Estimator Position Summary
Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator / Preconstruction Engineer to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects from early design through final bid. This role is responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, supporting bid strategies, and collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to deliver competitive and executable project proposals.
Construction Estimator Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates for water and wastewater construction projects at various stages of design, including conceptual, budgetary, and hard bid estimates.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and review drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Support Lead Estimators, Chief Estimators, and Preconstruction Managers with bid preparation and other preconstruction activities.
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with bid leveling, scope reviews, and cost analysis.
- Participate in collaborative delivery projects and support value engineering efforts.
- Identify project risks, assumptions, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Strong interest in water and wastewater infrastructure construction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Prior experience in water or wastewater infrastructure construction.
- Previous experience in construction cost estimating or parametric estimating.
- Familiarity with heavy civil or industrial construction methods.
- Experience working with subcontractors and vendor pricing.
