CPD&D Laboratory Technician

The CPD&D Laboratory Technician will support research and testing activities involving insects, nematodes, and plant material in laboratory and greenhouse settings. This role includes preparing samples, conducting assays, maintaining insect colonies, and ensuring all work meets strict safety and quality standards


CPD&D Laboratory Technician Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain plants and insect colonies used in testing
  • Infest plant and artificial diet material with non-stinging, non-hazardous insect species
  • Formulate assays using manual pipettes
  • Apply assays using hand sprayers and track sprayers
  • Prepare media used in entomology testing
  • Grade and record insect assay results
  • Assist evaluators by scribing and recording data
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, including restocking supplies
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety, ergonomic, and procedural standards
??CPD&D Laboratory Technician Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Entomology, or Nematology preferred
  • Previous laboratory experience and experience working with insects and nematodes preferred
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and work in varying environments (lab, greenhouse, insectary)
  • Will wear a PAPR (Powered Air-Purifying Respirator)
  • Medical Clearance, Pulmonary Function Testing, and Cholinesterase Evaluation required (completed during onboarding)
