A leading law firm is seeking an experienced and highly organized Director of Administration to join its Cleveland headquarters. Reporting directly to firm leadership, this role is the primary point of contact for all administrative matters and plays a critical part in ensuring smooth operations across the organization.
You’ll oversee core administrative functions, including human resources, facilities management, risk management, records management, and office operations, while leading cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on collaboration, problem-solving, and making a firm-wide impact.
Director of Administration Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day administrative operations across all offices, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and compliance with firm policies.
- Lead and mentor administrative teams, including HR, facilities, records, administrative staff, and local office managers.
- Partner with firm leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and long-term operational goals.
- Develop and implement administrative policies and processes that enhance productivity and align with firm objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee service-level agreements for administrative functions.
- Drive HR practices and strategy, including onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and compliance with employment laws.
- Provide guidance to managers and team members on HR best practices, legal compliance, and professional development.
- Oversee facilities planning, space management, and vendor coordination for all firm offices.
- Direct records management policies and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Support planning and execution of firm-wide retreats and key internal events.
Director of Administration Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 8–10+ years of experience in administrative leadership, ideally in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex operations.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, facilities management, and records compliance.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships.
- Demonstrated success in implementing policies and driving operational improvements.
