Engineering Technician Overview

Engineering Technician Responsibilities
- Modify, repair, and build circuit card assemblies (CCAs), wiring harnesses, and electronic hardware from engineering documentation.
- Assemble and troubleshoot electronic test equipment according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Build electronic aircraft components for engineering testing and evaluation.
- Support Engineering with troubleshooting and repair of circuit card assemblies.
- Perform soldering and rework of surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole electronic components.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and assembly drawings.
- Conduct scheduled laboratory audits and maintain organized work areas.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve lab processes and efficiency.
- Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Occasionally work evenings or weekends as needed.
- Travel occasionally (less than 5%), including limited domestic and international travel.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics assembly, repair, or engineering technician work.
- Hands-on experience soldering and reworking both surface-mount and through-hole components.
- Experience performing PCB modifications, including component replacement, cuts, jumps, and board rework.
- Ability to assemble electronic hardware and test equipment using hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Experience with PCB CAD software such as Allegro, PCAD, Expedition, PADS, or similar.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Active or previous IPC soldering/rework certification is preferred.
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
