Engineering Technician Overview
The Engineering Technician is responsible for modifying, repairing, and building circuit card assemblies (CCAs), electronic test equipment, wiring harnesses, and other aircraft electronic components. This role supports engineering through hands-on assembly, soldering, rework, and troubleshooting while working from technical documentation such as schematics, PCB layouts, and work instructions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong electronics assembly experience looking to support aerospace engineering and product development.

Engineering Technician Responsibilities
  • Modify, repair, and build circuit card assemblies (CCAs), wiring harnesses, and electronic hardware from engineering documentation.
  • Assemble and troubleshoot electronic test equipment according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Build electronic aircraft components for engineering testing and evaluation.
  • Support Engineering with troubleshooting and repair of circuit card assemblies.
  • Perform soldering and rework of surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole electronic components.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and assembly drawings.
  • Conduct scheduled laboratory audits and maintain organized work areas.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve lab processes and efficiency.
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Occasionally work evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Travel occasionally (less than 5%), including limited domestic and international travel.
Engineering Technician Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics assembly, repair, or engineering technician work.
  • Hands-on experience soldering and reworking both surface-mount and through-hole components.
  • Experience performing PCB modifications, including component replacement, cuts, jumps, and board rework.
  • Ability to assemble electronic hardware and test equipment using hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with PCB CAD software such as Allegro, PCAD, Expedition, PADS, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Active or previous IPC soldering/rework certification is preferred.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
