The Equipment Maintenance Technician Level 5 is a senior-level maintenance position responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex equipment problems, identifying root causes, and improving equipment reliability. This technician serves as a technical resource and mentor to other maintenance technicians while independently supporting plant leadership, Engineering, and cross-functional teams. The position requires advanced troubleshooting capabilities across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and PLC-controlled equipment.

Equipment Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and fluid power systems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across multiple types of manufacturing equipment and identify the root cause of equipment failures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and support Reliability Excellence and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Read, interpret, and troubleshoot equipment blueprints, assembly drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot equipment controls and make changes or recommendations to PLC logic programs.
  • Utilize diagnostic and analysis equipment including multimeters, hydraulic test gauges, precision levels, push-pull testers, and other predictive technologies.
  • Perform and provide technical guidance in welding, soldering, machining, fabrication, and basic plumbing.
  • Service and troubleshoot power transmission systems.
  • Provide equipment leveling and alignment expertise during equipment moves and installations.
  • Build specialty and R&D equipment using specifications and technical support provided by Engineering.
  • Recommend and implement equipment modifications designed to improve reliability, performance, and plant operations.
  • Lead and facilitate root cause analysis efforts, shift start-up meetings, and departmental meetings.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with Product, Process, Quality, and Reliability Engineers.
  • Mentor and train other maintenance technicians in troubleshooting, predictive technologies, fabrication, and machining.
  • Follow plant safety procedures including LOTO, Arc Flash, confined space, fall protection, hot work, compressed gas, and PPE requirements.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing practices including 5S, CEDAC, and Standard Work.

Equipment Maintenance Technician Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of applicable maintenance experience; a technical degree may count as 2 years of experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and fluid power systems.
  • Ability to diagnose complex equipment failures and perform root cause analysis.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot equipment blueprints, assembly drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment and making recommendations or changes to PLC logic programs.
  • Strong experience with preventative and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Experience with welding, soldering, fabrication, machining, and power transmission systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Previous experience mentoring or training other maintenance technicians.
  • Ability to independently coordinate maintenance activities and communicate equipment status to plant leadership.
  • Ability to complete required Powered Industrial Equipment training.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and remain on foot for 8–s per day.
  • Must be capable of obtaining respirator certification and traveling to other facilities or vendors as needed.
