Facilities Engineer Overview:

Looking to grow your engineering career with one of the nation’s top hospitals? A leading health care provider is hiring a Facilities Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. In this role, you’ll provide technical expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Fire & Life Safety Engineering to support renovations, maintenance, and new construction projects across our worldwide portfolio. You’ll collaborate with architects, facility managers, end users, and consultants while working on projects that directly impact patient care and healthcare innovation.

The Facilities Engineer plays a key role in engineering consultation, troubleshooting, design review, and construction support, helping ensure Cleveland Clinic facilities meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability.

Facilities Engineer II Responsibilities:

  • Provide multi-disciplinary engineering consultation for facility repair, renovation, and new construction projects.

  • Collaborate with architects, facility managers, owners’ representatives, end users, and third-party consultants.

  • Perform engineering consultation and troubleshooting for existing systems, including recommendations for repairs and improvements.

  • Conduct engineering studies, assessments, and prepare reports/presentations.

  • Assist with project budgeting, construction estimates, and operational cost evaluations.

  • Prepare construction documents for small renovation projects.

  • Review third-party design documents to ensure compliance with company standards.

  • Provide engineering support in facility acquisitions and building/system disposals.

  • Support other engineering initiatives and projects as assigned.

Facilities Engineer II Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

  • 4+ years of design and/or operation experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and reports.

  • Successful completion of the 8-hour Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) training within 6 months of hire.

Facilities Engineer II Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Ohio (or ability to obtain in Florida).

  • Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) certification through the American Hospital Association.

  • 2+ years of healthcare design, operations, or project management experience.

  • Knowledge of medical gas systems, ASHRAE standards, fire & life safety codes, and healthcare regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.

  • Ability to move throughout company facilities and travel to other sites as needed.

  • Capable of lifting/transporting up to 25 lbs.

  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding to inspect construction/renovation sites.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • Required as needed when visiting construction or designated locations.
