Field Service Technician Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations at end-user customer sites following company-approved procedures and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and repair technically complex equipment using available resources and self-knowledge.
- Organize daily work schedule and coordinate with territory teammates for efficient operations.
- Maintain mobile inventory; organize and reorder as needed to maximize equipment uptime, ensure quality work, and minimize repeat visits. Return all defective/used inventory for refurbishment or replenishment.
- Generate service revenue by promoting Service Programs and Billable services. Partner with Territory Service Inside Sales to prepare service quotes, follow through to sale completion, and communicate with customers, purchasing agents, and asset managers.
- Generate and pass sales leads for new products or upgrades to respective sales representatives.
- Complete work orders accurately to align customer billing with company policies.
- Maintain company work vehicle, calibration tools, special equipment, and stock inventory.
- Safeguard all proprietary information, including service and training manuals, diagnostic software, calibration tools, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
- End-user customers and healthcare facility personnel (doctors, administrators, purchasing agents, dealers, etc.).
- Company Specific Sales, Clinical Support, Service Marketing, and Customer Service teams.
- Company U.S. Service Operations (Technical Assistance Center, Service Support, Field Operations, Specialists, Engagement Management).
- Company Specific Service Repair Center.
- Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, biomedical technology, IT networking, or computer science preferred.
- Equivalent military training in electronics, aviation, or IT with 2+ years of experience accepted.
- High school diploma/GED with training/certifications in related fields and 3+ years of experience also considered.
- Prior hospital or customer service experience preferred.
- Competency in operational verification, preventive maintenance, and equipment repair.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed environment with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use workforce/CRM software.
- Willingness to travel within assigned territory (up to 70% local/regional, with overnight travel as needed).
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency off-hours as required.
- Physical requirements: ability to lift/push 50+ lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and frequently bend, crouch, kneel, crawl, or climb.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license required.
