Hardware Development Engineer Overview
The Hardware Development Engineer will join a collaborative engineering team responsible for developing advanced industrial automation and control systems. This role contributes throughout the hardware product development lifecycle, including sub-circuit design, hardware integration, prototype testing, functional analysis, verification, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, eager to learn new technologies, and committed to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and expanding technical ownership. Mentorship and coaching will be provided, with opportunities to take on additional scope and responsibility as experience grows.

Hardware Development Engineer Responsibilities
- Collaborate on an agile engineering team to design and develop new industrial automation products, including overall architecture and hardware verification.
- Program, analyze, troubleshoot, and validate electronic hardware prototypes.
- Prepare product design documentation, technical documentation, and test reports.
- Research new technologies and contribute to technical initiatives involving circuit design tools and hardware troubleshooting.
- Work with technical peers to implement test automation and design simulation solutions.
- Build relationships across engineering and cross-functional teams to develop a strong understanding of the product development lifecycle.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and refine engineering best practices.
- Support hardware development activities from initial design through testing, verification, and product integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in cross-functional hardware product development.
- Experience using design capture tools and the ability to read and understand schematics.
- In-depth knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC power conversion, and programmable devices such as CPLDs and FPGAs.
- Hands-on experience with hardware test equipment, including debuggers, precision oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Programming experience in Python and/or C++, with an interest in leveraging these tools for automated hardware testing.
- Experience working in a scaled Agile environment.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards such as IEC 61508 and/or EMC standards such as IEC 61000.
- Strong attention to detail and sense of ownership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Growth mindset with a willingness to learn, mentor others, and expand technical ownership.
