Shift: 2a-10:30a (Tuesday - Saturday)
The Histology Technician will play a critical part in patient care by processing, sectioning, and staining tissue specimens to assist pathologists in making accurate diagnoses.
Histology Technician Responsibilities:
Specimen Processing: Receive, log, and prepare tissue specimens for routine and special processing.
Embedding & Microtomy: Expertly embed processed tissue and perform high-quality microtomy (sectioning) at appropriate micron levels without artifacts.
Staining & Coverslipping: Perform routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining, complex special stains, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) protocols.
Quality Control: Maintain accurate records, perform routine equipment maintenance (microtomes, tissue processors, strainers), and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure optimal slide quality.
Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to chemical hygiene, biohazard handling protocols, and institutional quality assurance guidelines.
Education: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science (Bachelor's degree highly preferred for HTL classification).
Certification: Active HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification is required.
Experience: 1+ years of laboratory experience in an acute care hospital or high-volume pathology setting preferred. Open to strong clinical new graduates.
