Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and order in assigned facilities and surrounding areas. This role involves routine cleaning, stocking supplies, operating cleaning equipment, and reporting maintenance or supply needs to supervisors. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and physically able to handle the demands of a hands-on, active work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and glass cleaning.
• Clean and maintain restrooms, ensuring they are fully stocked with supplies.
• Handle and dispose of trash and recyclables appropriately.
• Operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment such as carpet shampooers, steam cleaners, and power tools when needed.
• Clean specialized areas or equipment (including laboratory equipment if required).
• Replenish and organize cleaning supplies; notify supervisor when stock is low.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, reporting any hazards or repairs needed.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies while on duty.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping experience is a plus.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, bending, climbing, and lifting/moving up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable operating cleaning machines and tools, with training provided if necessary.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating with supervisors.
