Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Greenhouse Technician to join our Controlled Environments Team on the weekend shift at our Johnston, Iowa research facility. In this role, you will support daily greenhouse operations and assist with plant care activities that contribute to innovative agricultural research. This position involves hands-on work in a large, smoke-free greenhouse facility and requires attention to safety, cleanliness, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily greenhouse plant care, including watering, pollination, transplanting, harvesting, and seed handling
• Assist with routine greenhouse tasks and experimental procedures
• Collect, record, and organize data accurately
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Follow all safety, compliance, and sanitation protocols, including proper disposal of regulated materials
• Work with various crop types such as corn, soybean, wheat, canola, and others

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant science, or related field preferred but not required
• Relevant work experience may be considered in place of formal education
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Physically able to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs., and perform repetitive tasks
• Comfortable working in warm, humid environments with exposure to pollen and agricultural chemicals
