Lab Technician – Logistics & Distribution
Location: Johnston, IA
Pay Rate: $22/ hour
Shift: 6:30am - 2:30pm M-F
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician – Logistics & Distribution to support laboratory operations through effective inventory management, material tracking, storage, and distribution of laboratory supplies, reagents, and materials. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring materials are available when needed, and preventing disruptions to laboratory workflows. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage laboratory inventory, including receiving, tracking, storing, and distributing materials, reagents, and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and documentation using inventory management systems and databases.
- Organize and maintain storage areas to ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and easily accessible.
- Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and inspect materials for quality and compliance with established procedures.
- Prepare, package, and distribute laboratory materials and supplies to internal departments and stakeholders.
- Conduct routine inventory counts, audits, and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Identify inventory discrepancies and assist with corrective actions and process improvements.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel and cross-functional teams to support operational needs and project requirements.
- Follow established safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines for handling, storing, and distributing laboratory materials.
- Assist with laboratory organization, housekeeping, and general operational support activities.
- Support special projects and additional assignments as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in a scientific, technical, logistics, or related field preferred.
- Experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, laboratory support, logistics, or distribution preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately track, document, and manage inventory records.
- Experience working with inventory management systems, databases, or Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support operational objectives.
- Ability to lift, move, and transport laboratory materials and supplies as required.
