Lab Technician Summary
The Lab Technician would partner with engineering on activities such as testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of product development, work with engineering and provide technical solutions to solve product issues, complete assigned jobs with assistance from other team member and engineers, conduct required tests and calibration using test equipment; check and maintain equipment to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Lab Technician Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering on product testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical evaluations.
- Perform setup, operation, and calibration of lab test equipment.
- Conduct and document testing activities for automotive, electrical, mechanical, and R&D components.
- Analyze and troubleshoot product and test equipment issues.
- Maintain lab equipment and verify compliance with applicable standards.
- Support product assembly, design testing, and failure/root cause analysis.
- Participate in cross-functional team projects related to process improvement and product enhancements.
- Research new concepts, methods, or tools to improve lab effectiveness.
- Follow Quality and Environmental Management Systems requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and uphold company safety standards.
- Use personal protective equipment (safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, etc.) as required.
- Perform physical activities including lifting, standing, bending, squatting, and climbing, as necessary.
- Work under fluctuating deadlines and variable overtime hours.
Lab Technician Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive, electrical, mechanical, testing, or engineering environments (Co-op/internship experience acceptable).
- Experience with quality measurements, electrical components, test instrumentation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to follow oral instructions and complete tasks independently or collaboratively.
- Complies with the requirements of the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
- Safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and electrical worker safety protection may be required based on the specific role.
- Safety-focused with a commitment to maintaining clean and compliant workspaces.
Lab Technician Physical Responsibilities
- Stand for extended periods.
- Bend, squat, kneel, and climb ladders or platforms as needed.
- Repetitive lifting or carrying of materials up to 50 lbs.
- Push/pull carts or test setups as required.
- Operate in a lab/shop environment while using required safety gear.
