For this contractor assignment, the IT Software Developer in Test is responsible for solving testability problems and designing technology solutions that assist developers and testers. Utilizes software engineering skills to identify risks and potential defects within software components or systems. Influences software and/or systems development decisions by reviewing work and providing recommendations for addressing testability challenges. Executes activities across the software development life cycle, considering various methods and techniques to obtain efficient solutions. Recommends ways to utilize technology to improve testing and automation approaches.
This contractor will be assisting the Agency BFD project team with driving quality-centric practices into our software development processes and will also be responsible for working closely with the project teams to guide their use of test automation assets and consult on the creation and use of new test automation.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Shares ownership and maintenance of the team’s automation assets and framework
• Provides SME project support for Agency Test automation on Enterprise, Cross-Platform and Agency specific projects (all IT Gov. Work Types)
• Creates new test automation assets associated with new features and risk areas
• Provides Quoting release cycle support for Integration/Acceptance:
• Assists QAA's with review and troubleshooting of test automation failures
• Preforms troubleshooting and maintenance updates on existing scripts with pre-determined changes (PUF request) and/or confirmed failures
• Consults with Developer DOD on any application and/or environmental issues encountered
• Informs OPS Team, QASM, DQ, project team TL/QAA, etc. as necessary on any issues identified
• Leverage AI tools in daily work (Copilot, Codex, Claude, etc.)
Required Skills:
• Experience testing APIs and Web services
• Strong knowledge of Development and QA processes, methodologies and tools.
• Highly proficient in white-box and black-box test planning and software testing; including functional, unit, system, integration, regression, and all other applicable forms of manual and automated testing
• Experience in technically complex and fast-paced environments.
• Proven experience working with business and developers in handling multiple priorities
• Understanding of automated test design techniques.
• Experience using MSTest and Playwright
• Proficient in .NET/C#
• Experience with MS tools such as VS, TFS, and SQL Server
• Knowledge of Web Services including REST based APIs and scripting languages
• Familiar with MVC and Angular frameworks
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Git)
Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of Accessibility standards and testing tools (WCAG, Axe, Evinced, etc.)
• Knowledge and ability to leverage AI tools in daily work (Copilot, Codex, Claude, etc.)
• Familiarity with industry standards, such as ACORD
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 9 years related work experience designing, programming and supporting software programs and applications.
- {OR} Completion of a technical training program and a minimum 6 years related work experience designing, programming and supporting software programs and applications.
- {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher in an Information Technology or related field of study (e.g. Engineering, Math, Science) and a minimum 6 years related work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs and applications.
