Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing plant engineering and maintenance activities across the Independence, Walton Hills, and Wayside sites. This role manages the maintenance department and its employees, while driving the execution of capital and expense projects tied to production processes and facility operations. The Maintenance Manager ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operations that align with business goals for EHS, quality, productivity, and cost control.
Essential Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS&S policies, procedures, and protocols.
Provide reliable engineering and maintenance services that support operational performance and business objectives.
Lead the maintenance function to ensure facilities and equipment operate safely, minimize downtime, and maximize production efficiency through proactive maintenance practices.
Manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs, including procedure evaluation, scheduling, calibrations, and inspections; develop or enhance programs as needed.
Conduct root-cause investigations for equipment, process, and facility failures; identify and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Partner with Operations to establish repair and maintenance schedules that align with production and customer demands.
Manage capital projects by identifying, developing, and executing initiatives on schedule and within budget.
Lead and develop site maintenance personnel through training, communication, performance feedback, and coaching.
Direct the annual maintenance shutdown.
Oversee maintenance storeroom operations and ensure proper inventory of spare parts and equipment.
Maintain accurate facility and equipment documentation, including equipment files, drawings, and histories.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Ensure conformance with Quality and Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security standards, including ISO 9001 and RC14001 requirements.
Required Qualifications
Strong commitment to safety.
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
5–7 years of plant engineering or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Lean/Kaizen leadership experience preferred.
Ability to balance long-term strategic projects with immediate operational needs.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong analytical, technical, and strategic thinking skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, project management tools, and maintenance management software; SAP experience preferred.
