The Medical Assistant serves as the first point of contact for patient care. This role combines administrative responsibilities with hands-on patient care in a dynamic outpatient care setting. Medical Assistant performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments — including performing calculations and working on semi-routine tasks with some independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Discuss symptoms and gather/input information into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Take vital signs, give injections, perform diagnostic tests, collect specimens, draw blood, and sterilize/clean equipment.
- Maintain clean, well-stocked examination rooms and support smooth clinic operations.
- Collaborate closely with Physicians and Nurses to deliver safe, high-quality patient care within scope of active certification.
- Perform administrative duties as needed and ensure patient records are complete and accurate.
- Interpret and apply departmental policies and complete tasks under minimal supervision.
- Prioritize daily work independently while meeting quality standards and timelines.
Required Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of Medical Assistant experience providing direct patient care (‘back-office’).
- Applicable State Licensure in field of study (RMA/CMA).
- Current CPR certification.
- Less than 2 years of professional leadership experience.
- Must be a team player with excellent communication skills.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume healthcare environments.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook and basic computer skills.
- TB screening required (role is patient-facing as part of a TB program).
- Passion for improving consumer healthcare experiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- Bilingual: Spanish-English.
- Hands-on professional phlebotomy experience.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Familiarity with HEDIS measures.
- Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
- National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- American Medical Technologist (AMT)
- Rad Tech License (AART) — preferred but not required.
