Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting attorneys in complex litigation matters, particularly in medical malpractice, mass tort, and nursing home negligence cases. This position requires strong organizational skills, proficiency with case management systems, and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including subpoenas, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Conduct background and social media investigations relevant to ongoing cases.
- Assist with case analysis, including reviewing medical records and summarizing depositions.
- Manage case files and maintain accurate documentation throughout the litigation process.
- Perform electronic filing of pleadings in both State and Federal courts.
- Open new matters, track case progress, and ensure compliance with all deadlines and calendaring requirements.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and outside parties.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, and other case-related events.
- Request and track medical records and billing information from healthcare facilities.
- Generate and maintain reports, manage data sets, and support team collaboration across multiple offices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the legal team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associate degree or certification in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of paralegal experience in litigation or mass tort law, with specific medical malpractice experience required.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with case management systems, preferably Litify (Salesforce) or Needles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask effectively.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented legal environment.
