NDT Supervisor

The NDT Supervisor will lead a team of experienced technicians in the execution of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods including Fluorescent Penetrant Testing (FPI), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPI), Eddy-Current Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Wet Etch, and X-Ray. This role is responsible for overseeing daily department operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and production standards, while applying technical expertise in line with NAS410 requirements.

NDT Supervisor Responsibilities:
  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the NDT department, including scheduling, work assignments, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure inspections are performed in accordance with applicable procedures and standards.
  • Review completed work for adherence to quality requirements and production goals.
  • Train, mentor, and coach team members to maintain technical proficiency and professional development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, manage time-off and overtime, and resolve personnel issues as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in testing processes and departmental efficiency.
  • Maintain proficiency as a certified Level II in at least one NDT method and provide guidance on technical issues.
  • Ensure safety compliance, proper documentation, and system performance checks.

NDT Supervisor Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Hands-on experience with NDT processes and familiarity with inspection procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, written instructions, and industry standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency with standard software applications.
  • Ability to pass required vision tests (Ishihara Color and Jaeger Reading Certification).
  • High school diploma required; technical training, college coursework, or military experience in relevant fields preferred.
  • Aviation, aerospace, or industrial maintenance and testing experience is a plus.
  • Basic math and measurement tool proficiency (fractions, decimals, calipers, micrometers).
