Spray Painter Overview:
The Spray Painter is responsible for preparing, masking, and painting Terra-Tran units, Power units, field returns, and fabricated components requiring final finishing prior to inspection. The role includes cleaning, sanding, and feather edging surfaces, adjusting spray equipment, ensuring proper paint application, and maintaining a clean spray booth environment.
Spray Painter Responsibilities:
Prepare all surfaces for painting, including bare metal, previously painted surfaces, and feather edges.
Mask bushings and transformer accessories to avoid unintended paint coverage.
Verify correct color and mill thickness using Bills of Material.
Record serial numbers for repainted units and label appropriately.
Set and monitor pump pressures, heater temperatures, air and fluid pressures for optimal spray application.
Measure paint viscosity using Zahn cup and stopwatch at start and mid-point of shift.
Maintain proper fluid and air pressure in pressure pots, especially for special color applications.
Change filters and clean spray booth and surrounding areas on a scheduled basis.
Transport paints from Paint Room using hand cart and barrel truck.
Operate 15,000 lb. electric walker for moving smaller units into spray booth.
Coordinate with crane operator to move large units in and out of the spray booth.
Spray Painter Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Must reside within 50 miles of the Waukesha, WI facility (active-duty military exempt).
Previous experience with industrial airless and/or pressure painting.
Minimum of 6 months of prior spray-painting experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality control.
