The ASCP Certified Sr Pathology Assistant will support the pathologist by performing macroscopic examination and dissection of surgical tissue specimens and conducting human postmortem examinations to ensure accurate diagnostic data collection.
ASCP Certified Sr Pathology Assistant Responsibilities:
- Equipment/Tools Utilized: Leica Microtomes, Peloris processors, Sakura Prisma H&E Stainer, Benchmark Special Stainers. EPIC EMR. Red scrubs.
- Assist pathologists with intraoperative consultations; rapidly select, cut, stain, and mount tissue sections for immediate microscopic analysis.
- Independently perform macroscopic examination, dictation, and dissection (grossing) of all tissue specimens, with an emphasis on high-complexity oncology resections.
- Direct the identification, collection, and preservation of tissue samples for tumor banking, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular/genetic testing.
ASCP Certified Sr Pathology Assistant Requirements:
- HS Diploma/GED
- Successful completion of course requirements from an accredited school (ASCP) certification
- 2-3 years post High School training
- Prefer 1-2yrs of experience
- Prefer qualified to gross
