The Pathology Technician will be responsible for the high-complexity laboratory testing of human tissue specimens, including gross description, dissection, preparation, and meticulous record-keeping while adhering to strict laboratory and quality control protocols.
Pathology Technician Responsibilities:
- Performs gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens for examination, holding and transport/shipment.
- Assists with the preparation of freshly removed surgical specimens for cytologic studies.
- Assumes responsibility for good documentation practices and maintains clear and legible records.
- Is delegated by the Technical Supervisor to perform laboratory high complexity laboratory testing in a compliant manner i.e. specimen grossing.
- Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
Pathology Technician Requirements:
- MUST HAVE 3 years of surgical pathology experience.
- Required Certifications: Must be certified by an accredited PA school
- Must be a certified Pathologists’ Assistant from a NAACLS accredited PA training program. PA (ASCP) cm.
