Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Production Supervisor is to plan, direct, and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing and shipment of products in accordance with company requirements for safety, cost, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of operational personnel and production activities.
- Provide leadership, participate in, audit, and train/coach on all production-related site safety processes such as LOTO, confined space entry, and line breaking.
- Support safety initiatives and ensure production personnel accountability in environmental, health, and safety, housekeeping, quality, and production standards while driving a safety-first culture.
- Ensure productivity targets are met and processes are running according to company goals.
- Monitor and record production and shipping data, including SAP transactions for material movements.
- Review, adjust, and approve employee timecards.
- Assist with hiring through screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Support employee development through feedback, evaluations, coaching, recognition, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Own and review production procedures to ensure proper plant operations and continuous improvement.
- Enter incident reports and conduct investigations related to quality and safety.
- Execute and improve employee training programs.
- Prepare production progress and status reports.
- Maintain production and personnel records.
- Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning; report issues and coordinate with maintenance and other departments to resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Determine material, equipment, and labor requirements and provide feedback on process improvements.
- Supervise and support inventory management, organization, and ordering of materials, supplies, and equipment related to production and warehouse operations.
- Ensure compliance with company Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security policies, including awareness of ISO 9001 and RC14001 requirements.
- Act as backup supervisor for shipping and warehouse operations to ensure orders are scheduled, picked accurately, packed properly, processed in SAP, and shipped on time in accordance with DOT, ISO 9001, and FIFO requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or a technical field is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- 1–2 years of supervisory experience.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and adapt to schedule changes as needed.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, internet navigation, and SAP.
- Experience with ISO 9001, BOLs, DOT regulations, CofAs, and FIFO order management preferred.
