Project Manager – Chemical Engineering

The Project Manager – Chemical Engineering oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects within the chemical or industrial manufacturing sector. This role is responsible for managing technical, financial, and commercial project elements while ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.

Project Manager – Chemical Engineering Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage single or multi-discipline engineering projects from concept through completion.
  • Establish and maintain project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for all project-related communication and coordination.
  • Direct and coordinate internal engineering teams and subcontractors to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Develop and manage project execution plans using Stage-Gate, EPC, or EPCM methodologies.
  • Identify project risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in project review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement within the Project Management Organization (PMO).
  • Support development of proposals, cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards for all project activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports and technical presentations for clients and leadership teams.
  • Oversee field work, including installations, startups, and troubleshooting as needed.

Project Manager – Chemical Engineering Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (other engineering disciplines may be considered based on experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the industrial chemical sector
  • Strong understanding of engineering project delivery methods (FEL/Stage-Gate, EPC, EPCM).
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and other project management and design tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative, on-site team environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically for client meetings, field work, or site visits as required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to pass background and drug screening requirements.
