We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations in ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and internal quality procedures. The ideal candidate will bring deep AS9100 experience, exceptional technical interpretation skills, and advanced expertise in creating and executing inspection documentation.
This role is responsible for reviewing engineering drawings, developing inspection plans, and generating First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in compliance with AS9102 requirements. The Quality Engineer will work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

This role is responsible for reviewing engineering drawings, developing inspection plans, and generating First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in compliance with AS9102 requirements. The Quality Engineer will work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and review complex engineering drawings, specifications, and requirements to ensure accurate inspection planning.
- Develop and maintain inspection plans, including balloon drawings, using Discus software.
- Create, review, and approve First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs/FAIs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to inspectors and manufacturing teams on inspection criteria, measurement methods, and acceptance requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address nonconformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain compliance with AS9100 Quality Management System requirements and support internal/external audits.
- Work with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards and support supplier quality initiatives as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of quality engineering experience in an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment.
- High-level ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings and specifications.
- Advanced experience creating FAIRs/FAIs in compliance with AS9102 standards.
- Proficient in ballooning drawings and creating inspection plans using Discus software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause and corrective action processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools
