R&D Chemist

Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented R&D Chemist to join our advanced packaging lab and fab facility. This position supports the development, optimization, and commercialization of new materials and technologies that address challenges in the semiconductor packaging industry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on lab experience in clean room environments, with a strong interest in materials formulation, synthesis, coating, lamination, and analytical testing.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on laboratory and clean room processing of material formulations, including coating, lamination, lithography, curing, metrology, and analysis of wafer-level and panel-level materials.
- Support global project teams by executing experiments, collecting data, and assisting in the analysis and interpretation of results.
- Formulate and test new materials to support process development, thermal analysis, and performance evaluation.
- Conduct and support analytical testing using techniques such as CVS, HPLC, UPLC, GPC, % solids, titrations, potentiostatic measurements, surface tension, cloud point, densitometry, and rheometry.
- Collaborate with internal analytical teams to characterize materials and drive performance improvements.
- Assist with polymer and organic synthesis experiments to support materials development and new product formulation.
- Contribute to process window development, performance optimization, and integration troubleshooting across semiconductor fabrication steps.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of experimental procedures, data, and outcomes.
- Communicate results and technical findings effectively to project leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Uphold highest standards of safety, scientific integrity, and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications
- B.S. or Associate degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1–2 years of hands-on industrial experience in a semiconductor fab, clean room, or related laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with wafer-level processing methods, thin film analysis, and materials characterization techniques.
- Experience using thermal and mechanical analysis tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in English and able to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
- Proficiency with a wide range of analytical and characterization equipment, including confocal and scanning electron microscopes.
- Hands-on experience with polymer or organic synthesis for material development.
- Background in applications testing, quality control, and reliability testing for process qualification and product release.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and curiosity for learning beyond assigned tasks.
- Experience in wafer-level or panel-level material formulation for semiconductor packaging applications.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional and global teams, including coordination with international partners.
