The R&D Lab Technician supports product development and testing activities within the Research and Development department. This position is responsible for preparing laboratory samples, conducting tests, collecting data, and assisting in the evaluation of materials and formulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and eager to contribute to innovation in a laboratory environment while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
R&D Lab Tech Responsibilities
- Prepare lab-scale batches and samples following established formulations or instructions from R&D chemists.
- Conduct standardized laboratory tests and document results accurately.
- Assist in the development, refinement, and validation of testing procedures.
- Perform application and performance testing to ensure products meet required specifications.
- Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and proper labeling of materials and samples.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Support new product development, improvement projects, and technical investigations.
- Follow all safety and environmental protocols, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with team members across R&D, Quality, and Production as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required; coursework or degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of laboratory, manufacturing, or quality experience (academic or professional) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow written and verbal procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and familiarity with spreadsheets.
- Comfortable working with chemicals, lab equipment, and performing repetitive hands-on tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to teamwork, safety, and continuous learning.
