R&D Lab Technician

Job Summary:

Looking for a R&D Lab Technician to join our team. This role supports electroplating operations and laboratory activities through solution preparation, process monitoring, and data analysis. The ideal candidate is hands-on, methodical, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You will work closely with R&D, production, and sales teams to optimize plating performance, support new process development, and ensure quality control across operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare chemical solutions and maintain electroplating baths for ongoing production and testing.
  • Operate and maintain electroplating equipment, including tanks, rectifiers, and agitation systems.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments such as pH meters, spectrophotometers, and conductivity meters.
  • Conduct routine and specialized tests to evaluate plating thickness, adhesion, and surface finish quality.
  • Analyze chemical concentrations and adjust bath compositions to maintain consistent plating conditions.
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and adjustments in laboratory notebooks and digital systems.
  • Communicate findings and process updates clearly to supervisors and cross-functional teams.
  • Support R&D in developing new plating processes, materials, and surface treatments.
  • Collaborate with sales and technical teams to troubleshoot customer plating and quality issues.
  • Ensure all laboratory and production activities comply with safety, environmental, and waste disposal regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Strong bias for action with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and proper handling of chemicals.
  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or master’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred
  • 1+ years of laboratory experience, particularly in electroplating, surface finishing, or chemical processing preferred
  • Understanding of electrochemical principles and plating chemistry (nickel, copper, silver, tin, etc.) preferred
  • Experience operating analytical instruments such as UV-Vis, AA, SEM, XRF, XRD, and wet chemistry systems preferred
  • Knowledge of ASTM/ISO standards, corrosion science, and surface analysis methods preferred
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies or certification is a plus preferred
