The Research Associate I work primarily within the autonomous lab, running the plate-based screens and selections that let us evaluate thousands of engineered strains at a time.
Research Associate I Responsibilities:
- Execute high-throughput screens and selections using the autonomous lab’s liquid-handling robotics and integrated detection instrumentation.
- Translate assigned screening protocols into automated, code-driven workflows under the guidance of senior scientists.
- Develop and optimize cultivation conditions and assays suited to automated execution.
- Test screening performance, troubleshoot failed or inconsistent runs, and flag anomalies for root-cause investigation.
- Maintain accurate records of screening data and protocols compatible with the lab’s automated data pipelines.
Research Associate I Requirements:
- BS in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical or biological engineering, or similar.
- Comfort working in, or strong interest in learning to work in, an automated, high-throughput, robotics-driven laboratory environment, including software- and code-driven workflows.
- Prior experience with plate-based assays and/or automated liquid handling a plus.
- Prior experience using automated workflows and associated software a plus.
