The Senior Electrical Engineer will be organized and obtain the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and customers. The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate with client teams and offer considerable latitude for independent judgment and action related to program objectives.
Senior Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
- Transmission Planning: Perform power system studies, including load flow, stability, short-circuit, and voltage analyses, to support long-term transmission planning and ensure grid reliability
- Capacity Planning: Develop load forecasts and assess the impact of renewable energy, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and large electrical loads, such as data centers, on the transmission system
- System Studies & Compliance: Manage ISO/RTO interconnection study processes, maintain compliance with NERC and FERC standards, and conduct contingency analyses (N-1, N-1-1) to identify and implement effective system improvements, including reconductoring and Remedial Action Schemes (RAS)
- Technical Leadership: Prepare comprehensive engineering reports and serve as a technical representative in regional transmission planning initiatives, stakeholder meetings, and strategic planning efforts
- Strategic Advisory: Communicate complex technical findings, including power flow, thermal loading, and system stability analyses, into clear business recommendations, project timelines, risk assessments, and financial impacts for executive leadership and stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
- 10+ years of experience with power systems engineering
- Experience with major utility, ISO/RTO, or specialized power delivery
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, GIS, PowerWorld Simulator, ETAP-G, or other energy management systems
- Experience reading construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and RFPs
- Valid driver’s license
- Electric utility capacity planning and operations experience preferred
