The Geotechnical Engineer, also known as a Project Development Engineer (PDE), plays a key role in our client management team. This position is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and converting prospective projects within the geotechnical market, managing relationships from lead generation through project acquisition. The PDE will work closely with clients, internal teams, and industry stakeholders to deliver tailored solutions that meet client needs while achieving company growth objectives.

The Geotechnical Engineer, also known as a Project Development Engineer (PDE), plays a key role in our client management team. This position is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and converting prospective projects within the geotechnical market, managing relationships from lead generation through project acquisition. The PDE will work closely with clients, internal teams, and industry stakeholders to deliver tailored solutions that meet client needs while achieving company growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy best-in-class sales processes and tools to develop and implement account plans to achieve sales and growth targets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within existing accounts and expand the client base.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders at client organizations.
- Conduct client meetings, negotiations, and presentations to understand needs, address concerns, and propose solutions.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and technical teams to ensure effective delivery of our services and solutions.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and performance reports to management.
- Develop and execute account-specific strategies, including pricing, promotions, and contract negotiations.
- Resolve client issues and disputes promptly to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Stay informed about customer needs, industry trends, and market conditions to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 12+ years of experience in a B2B, account-based, consultative selling environment.
- Proven ability to execute all roles and responsibilities outlined above.

- Prior experience with Sales CRM tools (Salesforce, Zendesk) preferred.
- Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to conduct on-site field visits, including walking steep slopes and traversing geohazards.
- Heavy travel required.
- Must reside in or be willing to spend significant time in the Pittsburgh Metro area.
