We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Tax Accountant to support and lead various federal, state, and local tax initiatives. This role will focus on compliance, planning, and research, as well as assist with audits and special tax projects. The Senior Tax Accountant will leverage their technical skills and problem-solving abilities to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient tax operations.
Senior Tax Accountant Responsibilities:
- Oversee sales and use tax compliance, including return filing, payment scheduling, and exemption management.
- Maintain tax basis fixed assets and support state income tax processes, including apportionment calculations.
- Manage payroll tax processes, including Forms 941 and 940 compliance.
- Coordinate and file Form 1099s, excise/use tax returns, Form 5500 employee benefit plan filings, U.S. Census reporting, and annual business registration filings.
- Research tax issues and new legislation; evaluate the impact on operations and identify credits or incentive opportunities.
- Support tax-related audits and assist management with planning and compliance projects.
- Recommend improvements in tax accounting systems and procedures.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with management, external departments, and auditors.
Senior Tax Accountant Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
- 3+ years of tax experience (federal, state, and local).
- Strong problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Self-motivated, high level of initiative, and able to work independently.
- CPA or EA designation preferred; SAP experience is a plus.
