The specialist collaborates closely with purchasing, production, sales, and the shipping coordinator to support timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Shipping and Receiving Specialist Qualifications:
Receiving Operations
- Welcome drivers and walk-in customers while delivering a high level of customer service
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with purchase orders, noting any damage or discrepancies
- Verify quantities, part numbers, serial numbers, and supporting documentation prior to accepting deliveries
- Accurately record received goods within the purchasing system
- Label, store, and distribute materials to appropriate departments or storage locations
- Work with purchasing and vendors to resolve shipment discrepancies or damage issues
- Process customer returns in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain and update Safety Data Sheet (SDS) records in both physical and digital formats
- Pick and prepare parts orders while monitoring inventory levels
- Communicate low or critical inventory levels and initiate replenishment as needed
- Prepare outbound shipments, including packaging, crating, building custom skids, and recording weight and dimensions
- Ensure all required documentation—such as manuals, wiring diagrams, instruction sheets, SDS, certificates of conformance, and test results—is complete and included with shipments
- Coordinate with the shipping coordinator to schedule pickups with freight carriers and parcel services
- Ensure all shipments comply with applicable domestic and international shipping regulations
- Transport materials to and from local customers or vendors using company vehicles as required
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facilities
- Complete light assembly or machining tasks as assigned
- Assist with inventory audits and reconciliation activities
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent damage or loss
- Communicate any issues or potential disruptions in the shipping process to management and relevant departments
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance shipping accuracy and efficiency
- Track and document time and materials used for packaging
- Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
Shipping and Receiving Specialist Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 1+ years of shipping and receiving experience
- 1+ years of experience operating a forklift
- Ability to reads measuring instruments
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools
