Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary: Quality Engineer specializing in Supplier Quality, crucial in upholding our commitment to excellence. Primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing supplier quality control procedures, conducting comprehensive audits, and driving corrective actions to resolve quality issues. Additionally, oversee the Approved Vendor List, manage internal and external audits, and support our calibration and documentation systems in the fulfillment of Business Management Systems requirements.

Responsibilities:
Supplier Management
  • Conduct regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Audits on site with Suppliers (~30-60% travel required).
  • Audits remote surveys.
  • Compile and document results.
  • Risk Assessment and processing of related documentation.
  • Develop and implement supplier performance metrics.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation.
  • Manage non-conformance reports and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely resolution.
  • Facilitate supplier development initiatives to promote continuous improvement.
  • Provide training to suppliers with onsite activities as well as remote learning.
  • Participate in supplier selection and qualification processes.
  • Manage Approved Vendor List (onboarding and release).
  • Assist with processing new vendor requests.
  • Update certification and documentation required for records.
  • Support new product development by ensuring supplier quality requirements are met.
Business Management Systems
  • Manage and support internal corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and support oversight of the calibration system.
  • Conduct, schedule, and assist in audits (internal & customer).
  • BMS document control (updating and distributing as required).
  • Manage and Repair Station documentation and training database.
  • Support inspection as required.
  • Manage and coordinate annual company eye exams.
  • Additional projects & duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Complies and conducts business in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Promotes ethical behavior by acting with honesty and integrity.
Required Skills / Abilities:
  • Bachelor of Engineering, Quality Management or similar.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance or supplier quality engineering.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification.
  • Experience with AS 9100 or relevant quality standards.
  • Proficiency in quality management analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC).
  • Proficiency in supplier audit methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and quality management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
