The Technical Associate – Research & Development will play a key role in supporting and leading applications projects focused on metallization technologies. This position will work on products and materials related to lead-free solder, Ni UBM/barrier layers, and copper applications, including copper pillar, RDL, TSV, and dual damascene processes. The role will involve hands-on laboratory work, technical support, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive the successful development and application of advanced metallization solutions.

The Technical Associate – Research & Development will play a key role in supporting and leading applications projects focused on metallization technologies. This position will work on products and materials related to lead-free solder, Ni UBM/barrier layers, and copper applications, including copper pillar, RDL, TSV, and dual damascene processes. The role will involve hands-on laboratory work, technical support, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive the successful development and application of advanced metallization solutions.
Technical Associate – Research & Development Responsibilities:
- Lead and support customer engagements for metallization product portfolios
- Execute customer demonstrations and product troubleshooting in an organized and timely manner
- Collect, analyze, and document data accurately to support project goals
- Design and perform experiments involving electroplating of metals, electrochemistry, chromatography, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), material and mechanical testing
- Present technical reports and findings to internal teams, customers, and OEMs
- Collaborate with applications, new product development, and engineering teams to share technical insights and incorporate feedback
- Follow all safety protocols and actively participate in group safety activities
Technical Associate – Research & Development Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chem. E., Materials Science, or related discipline
- 1+ year of industry experience preferred
- Background in materials or inorganic chemistry with plating bath formulation or metal electrodeposition experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to handle wet chemistry and operate standard chemical and analytical instrumentation and equipment
- Experience with analytical techniques such as: Electrochemistry, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- Strong knowledge and practical application of statistics and design of experiments (DOE) principles
