Tool Technician

1st Shift (6:45 am- 2:45 pm)

Tool Technician Description
Tool Technicians are responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, disassembly, and basic troubleshooting of injection molds used in production. In this role, you will support manufacturing operations by ensuring molds are properly maintained, functioning efficiently, and meeting quality and safety standards in a high-paced production environment.
Tool Technician Responsibilities
- Assist with the disassembly, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of injection molds using proper methods.
- Perform in-press cleaning and lubrication of molds as needed to support production uptime.
- Use basic hand tools and demonstrate mechanical aptitude in daily maintenance tasks.
- Operate or assist with tool room equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify part and component dimensions.
- Follow established maintenance procedures, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
- Accurately log preventative maintenance activities and maintain tool binder records.
- Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy while working under pressure and tight production deadlines.
- Work independently on routine tasks while demonstrating initiative in learning new skills.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to mold maintenance and plastics processing.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and plant standards.
Tool Technician Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or tool room environment preferred.
- Exposure to machining, mold maintenance, or injection molding environments is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machining and mold maintenance skills.
