Summary:
The Toolmaker supports the Manufacturing and Engineering departments by producing a wide variety of production and prototype components, tools, and fixtures. This role requires strong machining expertise, CNC programming knowledge, and precision measurement skills to ensure high-quality and accurate work.
Responsibilities:
- Manufacture complex tooling and fixtures in collaboration with Manufacturing and Design Engineering teams
- Create and proof CNC programs using Proto-Trak
- Set up and operate manual machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, drill presses, shears, and saws
- Set up and run 2-axis CNC lathes and mills in both prototype and production environments
- Operate surface grinding machines
- Develop, fabricate, and sharpen cutting tools and specialty tools
- Inspect components using GD&T techniques and both basic and advanced inspection tools
- Perform cut-open operations as part of production requirements
- Assist shop management in training employees on machining practices and internal procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
- High mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency in trigonometry
- Strong computer skills
- Understanding of chip formation and metal cutting mechanics
- Knowledge of ANSI/EIA RS–274 (G-code programming)
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Toolmaker
- Experience or formal education in design/drafting, with an emphasis on CAD
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Asylee, or Refugee)
- Associate degree in a technical field
